During the Radio 1 website redesign, one of the BBC's flagship products, I worked with a team of designers, the editorial and the technical teams.

The project gave me exposure designing for personas, reliable and realistic representations of our users based on qualitative and some quantitative user research and web analytics.

I created a module on the Radio 1 homepage to encourage users to discover content through musical genre along with some personalised backgrounds. I applied the visual design and branding to wireframes across the presenter pages, events and the help section.

I participated in usability and accessibility testing as an observer and note taker, to understand any problems with our designs, and we made improvements along the way.

Outcome

After launch we saw a notable increase in traffic to the Radio 1 site, an uplift in unique users and an increase in page impressions, indicating that users were visiting the site more often.

The website redesign went on to win a Webby Award in 2007.
