Project: BBC iPlayer Android App

Dates: August 2010 - February 2011

Platform: Android App

Background: The BBC News app launched last Friday. Initially for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch, the free to download News app will be followed by a BBC smartphone application for sport and later, for iPlayer. Apps for other devices such as Blackberry and Android phones will launch soon.

Brief: Create an Android version of the iPlayer app

Role: UX Designer

What I did...
Concept
Design research
Wireframes
Visual design
User research
Build mark up / assets

Outcome:
Visual designer working closely with interaction designers on the BBC iPlayer Android App, the BBC's first venture into the Android market. This was a high profile project that saw me help define BBC iPlayer interaction behaviors for the Android platform through a series of workshops, sketching sessions and prototypes. I also created wireframes to show content and functionality within the app, then went on to the visual design phase, designing for varied screen resolutions. I was also involved with the user testing and further amendments phase. This project saw me collaborate with interaction designers and developers.

Where can I see it?
